This website is brought to you by Tanzania's Travel Fair Committee (TFC), a joint venture involving the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) and members of Tanzania's tourism private sector. The TFC's mission is to consolidate and improve the marketing of Tanzania as a destination. All photographs featured in this website are reproduced with the kind permission of Javed Jafferji, Tanzania's leading photographer. WHAT IS ITS COMPOSITION? The Travel Fair Committee, initiated by the EU Tourism Development Programme, consists of representatives of TTB and the tourism private sector, all seasoned travel fair participants with long-term experience. HOW WAS THE COMMITTEE SELECTED? Members were selected on merit, experience and professionalism. Representation of the main tourism areas, balance of public and private sector interests and gender were also taken into consideration. WHO ARE MEMBERS? The Committee's Acting
Chairman is Dr Joseph van Doorn, European Union Tourism
Advisor. There are four sub-committees:
WHO SUPPORTS THE COMMITTEE? The committee has the blessing of the Ministries dealing with tourism on Zanzibar and the Mainland, the Tourism Confederation of Tanzania (TCT) and the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO). WHAT WILL THE FUTURE BRING? Members of this Committee are volunteers, who had the guts to accept the challenge and to work hand in hand with TTB, rather informally, to create a platform for a successful WTM 2002. The Committee, its mandate, membership, finance and modus operandi will be formalised in due course under the auspices of the TCT.
